I love this sauce with game meat (venison, wild boar). Wild game tends to be very lean as compared to domestic beef or chicken. As such, I like to add about 1/4 pound of quality smoked bacon about 1 hour prior to the end of the cooking process. If you are cooking this in a slow cooker (which I highly recommend for wild game), stir in 2 hours prior. This addition on the bacon will add smokiness and a touch of sweetness which I think will appeal to the southern and midwestern BBQ fans out there.

This is great on chicken too. I put 3 chicken breasts into a small enameled cast iron pot and covered the breasts with the sauce. Then I added one can of diced tomatoes and 1/2 large green bell pepper-chopped, and 1/2 large red bell pepper-chopped. Simmered until the chicken was moist and shredded it. Ate with tortillas, lettuce, peppers and cheese. rnMy next recipe with this is going to be cubed pork cooked with green pepper and onion to make a pork chili to eat with fried eggs and tortillas. All of these sauces are the bomb.

I used the Barbacoa sauce for the first time last night while camping! Yes camping that's how easy it is. The flavor was great! Not to sweet and not to hot. And using the crock pot made it all the more easy to make. I just browned the cubes of chuck roast and tossed them in the crock pot in the morning with the red onion. Popped on the lid and came back later that night and used a fork to break up the now fork tender beef and dinner was on! We all thought it was Great! Going to place an order for more to make at home.

Wow, finally tried this yesterday!
I usually do this type of cooking from scratch with 20 the ingredients and twice the time!
This was fantastic in that all these Frontera packets are so "near" to making from scratch compared to anything else one could try to buy out there.
I was nervous if this was going to be spicy for my kids, (missed the MILD on the front of the package).
The shred with your fork meat in 2 1/2 hours for a family of 4 was just perfect. Just 2lbs of chuck and 1/2 a red onion and popped it in the oven!

SAUCE is sweet, mild and terribly juicy! ;-D Delicious. I miss a kick and still didn't grab for my Cholula! Just with some Cilantro, Avocado and Mexican Cotija Cheese made for a perfect & amazing Sunday Night Tacos!
