Behind the Scenes Baja: Episode 4
Tuesday, 12 April 2011 08:01

There are a limited number of towns in Mexico that are special enough to receive the  "Pueblo Mágico" designation by the Secretary of Mexican Tourism, and Todos Santos is one of them.  We weren't surprised: it's a beautiful, charming coastal town and we had a blast while we were there.

Our day started out at a tiny convenience store / tortilleria, where the owners prepare not only basic tortillas, but also versions infused with spices and herbs, like cilantro or even curry!  For the show, our guide Sergio and Rick filmed a segment demonstrating their technique for making nopales tortillas from cactus paddles.  You've never had a tortilla like that, guarranteed. They taste amazing straight off the comal!

After stopping at the very cool Art & Beer—a desert oasis kind of restaurant run by a Mexican couple who have decorated it with trippy art and serve outstanding cocktails—we headed for a requisite visit to Hotel California (yes, that one) and filmed the creation of and inventive margaritas made with house anejo tequila and jamaica.
